Affiliate Academy Requirements and Standards
At the Jean Jacques Machado Jiu Jitsu Association, we are committed to maintaining the level of professionalism, integrity, quality, and excellence that has long been associated with the Jean Jacques Machado name. Every academy accepted into our affiliate program represents not only its individual ownership and instructors, but also the values, reputation, and standards of our Association. For that reason, we hold our affiliate academy owners to a high standard and expect every location to provide a clean, professional, respectful, and well managed training environment for its students, families, instructors, and guests. Becoming a Jean Jacques Machado affiliate is a privilege that carries an ongoing responsibility to uphold these expectations throughout the duration of the affiliation.
As part of our annual affiliate renewal process, every affiliate academy owner is required to provide a current background check and Live Scan once each year. This requirement is an important part of our commitment to maintaining consistent standards throughout our affiliate network. In addition, affiliate academy owners who wish to hire an instructor must complete the instructor approval process through the Jean Jacques Machado Jiu Jitsu Association before that individual begins teaching under the affiliate program. An official instructor hiring application must be submitted along with a letter of introduction for the prospective instructor, a professional resume, relevant qualifications and accomplishments, and a current background check and Live Scan. Once approved and hired, instructors working within a Jean Jacques Machado affiliate academy will also be required to provide an updated background check and Live Scan annually for as long as they remain in an instructional role.
All Jean Jacques Machado affiliate academies are also required to maintain operational surveillance cameras throughout the public and common areas of their facilities. These cameras must remain in operation twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. This requirement is intended to promote accountability, professionalism, transparency, and consistency within our affiliated locations and is one of several measures established to help affiliate owners maintain the standards expected of an academy carrying the Jean Jacques Machado name.
The Jean Jacques Machado Jiu Jitsu Association takes its responsibility to protect the quality and reputation of its affiliate program seriously. We make every reasonable effort to establish clear requirements, review prospective affiliate owners and instructors, and maintain standards that reflect the principles associated with Professor Jean Jacques Machado and his legacy in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Affiliation is not simply the right to display a name or logo. It represents an ongoing commitment to professionalism, responsible leadership, quality instruction, respect for students, and adherence to the policies and standards established by the Association.
Affiliate Academy Disclaimer
Each Jean Jacques Machado affiliate academy is independently owned, operated, and managed by its respective owner or ownership entity. Affiliate academy owners are solely responsible for the daily operation of their businesses, including the conduct and supervision of their employees, instructors, contractors, students, programs, policies, and activities. The Jean Jacques Machado Jiu Jitsu Association does not own, operate, manage, or exercise day to day control over independently owned affiliate academies and is not responsible for acts, omissions, incidents, disputes, injuries, employment matters, business practices, or other circumstances arising from the independent operation of an affiliate academy.
Affiliation with the Jean Jacques Machado Jiu Jitsu Association is contingent upon continued compliance with the standards, requirements, policies, and terms of the affiliate agreement. If an affiliate academy, academy owner, instructor, or other representative is found to have violated the terms and conditions of the affiliate program, failed to maintain required standards, or engaged in conduct that the Association determines is inconsistent with the values or reputation of the Jean Jacques Machado name, the Association reserves the right to take appropriate action, including suspension or termination of the academy’s affiliate status.
